Imagine starting your day with a cheerful mood, lots of energy and looking forward to all the tasks ahead. This sounds appealing, doesn’t it? That’s what good health, wellness and mental fitness can do.
In this blog, I will show you how to care for your body and mind so that kids can learn too. No matter your age, you should look after your physical and mental health. Get something to munch on (or a drink) and let’s get started!
💪 What is the meaning of Health?
Being healthy is different from not having any illnesses. When you are healthy, your body, mind and heart cooperate properly. You can picture it this way:
* When your body is strong and healthy, your physical health is good.
* When your thoughts and emotions are positive, you are mentally healthy.
* If you are healthy socially, you feel happy and connected to people.
Did you know?
You will take about 100,000 beats of your heart today. It would be the same as clapping your hands each second, all day.
What exactly is Wellness?
Wellness involves choosing healthy habits every single day. You don’t have to rely only on salads to keep healthy. Life is all about finding the right balance.
Wellness includes:
Selecting good food to eat 🌽
Getting a good night’s sleep 😴
Exercising your body 🏃♂️
Try to have a good attitude😄
Having time with your loved ones 👨👩👧👦
🧘♂️ What does it mean to be mentally fit?
We can strengthen our brain and emotions just as we work out our muscles. This is known as mental fitness. It eases stress, allows us to keep our minds on tasks and gives us strength.
Real-life Example:
One day, Simone Biles, the Olympic gymnast, stopped competing to focus on herself mentally. She made it clear to everyone that resting is a worthy goal. It takes strength, not weakness, to do that.
Healthy Tips You Can Do and Even Your Kids Can Try
🥗 1. Try to include a variety of colors in your meals.
Eat various-colored fruits and vegetables. I love red, green, yellow, purple and any other colors you can find.
Carrots are said to really improve your vision. Vitamin A is made from beta-carotene, so they are helpful for your vision.
🛏️ 2. Get the Sleep Superpower
While sleeping, your brain clears away the bad and holds on to the good. Every night, kids should get between 9 and 12 hours of sleep.
Consider reading a story rather than watching anything an hour before you go to sleep.
🚶 3. Try to be active every day.
Doing anything from dancing to jumping or playing tag will help. Try to participate in fun exercises for at least 30 minutes every day.
If you walk your dog, it all helps. Or spending your time chasing your little brother.
🧘♀️ 4. Breathe, relax your body and repeat the process.
Feeling worried? Take your time, count up to 5 and slowly let out your breath. Do it 3 times and notice the stress leaving you.
Some schools now practice mindfulness – which means noticing your emotions without judging them.
📵 5. Take some time away from technology.
Watching TV or using the computer for a long time can make you feel weary and dissatisfied. Consider having an hour each day or night when you don’t use your phone.
Consider using a “tech-free jar” and placing your phones in it for family time.
It’s worth thinking about (even for adults)!
When we focus on our health and mind, we:
Feel better
Work better
Sleep better
Decrease the chances of getting sick.
Add some more fun to your days!
Sometimes, adults also need reminders about this. Everyday life can be very busy and this causes stress to build within us. Minor actions such as drinking water or walking can have a big effect.
🧑💼 Real Story: Rani from Delhi
Meet Rani, a person from Delhi and hear her real story.
For a long time, Rani, who is also a working mom, was constantly tired. She got little sleep, ate less and was constantly checking her phone.
One day, her daughter asked, “Mama, is it possible to play outside instead of you being on your phone?” Asking that question made a huge difference in Rani’s life.
Now, Rani:
Every night, she takes walks with her daughter.
Drink more water each day.
Uses the weekends for yoga sessions.
She claims that she feels like she’s gotten 10 years younger. It was all made possible by easy steps.
Here are a few fun facts about wellness!
😄 Laughing for 15 minutes uses up about as many calories as a small cookie does.
🥣 Those who eat breakfast are more attentive than those who do not.
🧠Your brain uses up one fifth of the total energy produced by your body in a day.
🤗Give yourself or your loved ones a hug to help release some stress!
In conclusion, there are many lessons to learn from the sun.
No one needs to be perfect to focus on their health, wellness and mental fitness. They involve doing your best, step by step.
Have an apple, stretch a little, take a big breath and tell yourself: “I can do this!”
